St Mary’s Church, in nearby Mildenhall, is one of the finest in West Suffolk with features dating back to 12th and 13th centuries. The aisled ceiling has exquisitely carved hammer beams and the 112 feet tall square tower provides the opportunity to view the surrounding countryside, which includes the River Lark and its riverside walks.

The Mildenhall and Lakenheath airbases are nearby for aviation enthusiasts, but far away enough not to disturb the village.

Bell Cottage has been fully refurbished and offers high quality, flexible and comfortable self catering in Barton Mills. The cottage sleeps 4 people plus 2 (on sofabed).

Bell Cottage was built in 1820 and is within a 10 yard walk from the owners who have been carefully restoring older buildings since 2000 and can now also offer two other self-contained properties which are available for let Appletree Cottage and Appletree Barn.

The Facilities

Bell Cottage has full gas central heating, a high specification new kitchen and bathroom together with shower. Full insulation ensures the rooms are snug in winter and cool in summer. All furnishings including new beds and furniture have been chosen to enhance the features of the cottage and to provide a comfortable living environment.

There is a colour television in the sitting room together with DVD player. Radio/CD players are also provided. The kitchen contains a dishwasher and fridge as well as all the essentials for cooking and eating. The cottage is situated next door to one of the small family friendly village pubs, the nearest pub restaurant is only 3 minutes walk away and nearby Mildenhall offers a variety of pubs and restaurants as well.
